Derek Hough at Radio City Music Hall

Derek Hough to star in “New York Spring Spectacular”:

DWTS is my absolute favorite TV show EVER…bar none…and Derek Hough is most definitely one of my all-time favorite Pros!!  So you may easily imagine how pouty (how distraught, actually!) I was feeling when it was said that Derek was leaving DWTS for Broadway!

 But now that those dark, dismal clouds have parted and I know that he will be returning for the 10^th anniversary season (Go Disney, go Disney!), I am feeling a lot more gracious about the entire subject!  And so, I’ve dug up the following facts from a 1/13/15 article at NewYork.com.  

Derek Hough will be starring in Radio City Music Hall’s New York Spring Spectacular, set to show on Broadway from March 12^th – May 3^rd, along side Tony-winner, Laura Benanti and The Radio City Rockettes!

The show will also feature an impressive list of stars making cameo appearances including:  Whoopi Goldberg, Kelly Ripa, Michael Strahan, Donald Trump (What?!) and Martha Stewart!

In the show, Derek plays Jack, a man trying to save a NYC tour company from a billionaire, Jenna (Benanti), who has taken it over and wants to make all the tours virtual in order to cut back on costs.

About the show, Derek Hough said, “…performing at Radio City Music Hall in a show that celebrates everything that is beloved about New York City is a dream.  I can’t wait to show fans this production…it’s going to be like nothing they’ve seen me in before.”

Well I must say, it does all sound amazing!!

BTW, the writer of this NewYork.com article, David Sheward, refers to Derek as "Emmy-nominated choreographer [sic] Derek Hough" … Uh, excuse me?!  Thank you for this article, Mr. Sheward, but that would Emmy-Winning Choreographer Derek Hough - as of 2013 -  just sayin’!

So, Derek will be performing on Broadway while competing on DWTS along with his partner, Nastia Liukin.  And Nastia herself will be juggling competing with Derek on the show while still keeping up with her studies at  New York University, where she attends…YIKES! …I sure hope the heavy work load doesn’t prove to be too much for them!

But hey! As we all know, if anyone can pull it off; it’s Derek Hough!  Am I right about it, Derek?! …<crickets>…Derek?
