REVIEW: Alexa & Mark
To begin their Week 02 dances, Alexa PenaVega and her Professional partner, Mark Ballas, spiced up the Ballroom with the preforming of one very Sassy Salsa!

You know, it is only Week 02 of the competition; and yet, it still must be said that, so far at least for Season 21, there is Bindi Irwin and the two PenaVegas, and then there is everyone else!
I mean to say that Alexa’s dancing was absolutely on fire, and like I said, on a whole other level!

And with that, Mark’s choreography was supremely spot-on, as always! ... Very well done!

Now, speaking of Mark, I do hope that he will ease up a little in the coming weeks. He did look and sound a little peeved in the Couple’s Week 02 Rehearsal Package; and as we all know, that is just not like Mark! Plus, I don’t know why everyone keeps referring to poor Alexa’s week 01 Jive like it was a complete “failure” or something, because that dance was terrific!
I’m just sayin’, Mark, you are a creative genius; and, you’ve been given an girl who can just flat out dance and who is a fast-learning, excellent student! Don’t mess this up for yourself being all “Serious Mark” and putting your partner through an undeserved guilt trip every time her crazy-talented husband, Carlos PenaVega, and his partner, Witney Carson, make slightly better marks than her! ... Just saying.
For their second Week 02 performance, Alexa & Mark danced a beautiful Rumba! …

Now, first off, it should be mentioned that I thought this particular choreography lent itself more to Contemporary than it did a Latin Rumba … the Pros really do seem to be taking advantage of the fact that Len Goodman is not there. Then again, I suppose that is a huge part of their job description: To constantly ride that very fine line of merging the judges approval with some very much-needed fan votes! That said, however, good grief, Mark, make us bawl our eyes out why don’t you?!

This dance was just all kinds of “lovely”!! A bittersweet and beautiful piece dedicated to his parents, Ballroom and Dance Instructor greats Corky and Shirley Ballas, that also exquisitely showcased Alexa’s wonderful aptitude for sweet feminine gracefulness on the dance floor,

and topped off with a perfectly-executed leg split that is known in the world of Ballroom as Shirley Ballas’ signature move!
