Nick & Witney – Review of DWTS Season 21, Week 05

DWTS Season 21, Week 05

REVIEW: Nick & Witney

Dancing the Paso Doble to “Don’t Look Down” by Martin Garrix, featuring Usher, Nick “Look At Me, Mom, I’m a Professional Dancer and Choreographer” Carter and his I-don’t-know-how-she-ever-managed-to-put-up-with-him-partner, the ever lovely Witney Carson, closed down Switch Up Week.

Okay, well, first thing’s first …

WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH YOU, NICK?!!

To quote your presumptuous self during the night’s Rehearsal Package, “I don’t think Witney cares as much, because she’s competing with Carlos against everyone else, so this is an opportunity for me to take the Leadership role.”

<Record Scratch>  Wait, WHAT?!!  Do You even hear yourself, Carter?

Let’s just take a moment and break that horrid, mind-bogglingly-stupid, and unfeeling remark down, shall we?

Number 01:  “I don’t think that Witney cares as much because she’s competing with Carlos … ”

That is a HORRIBLE, mean accusation to make (PARTICULARLY when it is against someone in Witney’s line of work) when it seems to be, by ALL accounts (INCLUDING YOUR OWN, following your Week 05 dance - Read further down to see how Nick digs this hole even deeper!) COMPLETELY unfounded!!

Number 02:  “opportunity” ??  As in, you have been actively seeking a chance to take charge in your current Dance Instructor/Student relationships? … In a Ballroom Dance Competition, no less?! … Are you CRAZY?!!

Number 03:  “this is an opportunity for me to take the Leadership role” … Okay, <Banging head on some flat, hard, and unforgiving service since that seems a much better use of my time when compared to listening to this blatant stupidity> now you have just gone full-bore insane! … WHAT/WHICH “Leadership role”, Nick?  <Drumming Fingers> Hmmm? … Surely you don’t mean when it comes to dancing, right?  Because that would be a level of misguided-presumption that is high, even for you, “Haughty-Nick”.  You do know that the typical, in-sync Steps and “Arm Flares” of any given Boy Band could never hope to measure up to the world of actual, life-long-studied dance sometimes referred to as “Ballroom” or “Latin”, right?!

Oh!  Oh, now I understand, you meant “take the Leadership role” in Choreography … To once again quote “Nick Crazy” from the Rehearsal Package, “It was late. <correcting Witney>  Might be only time for one spin.” And “See, yeah, you’re out there, <again correcting Witney> before I am.” … See, yeah, no, no, no ,no, <placing finger on lips> just keep quiet, “Nicky”, before you embarrass your self even further.  Just because YOUR (what I am left to assume at this point is a) lame-@$$ cannot keep up with a Professional like Witney, it DOES NOT mean that it is the choreography’s fault!

Oh, but the Nick-has-lost-all-common-sense-this-week-fun doesn’t stop here, let’s move on in this Review to his actual Monday night performance, shall we?

First off, BRILLIANT choreography, as always, by Witney

 - despite it not being Guest Judge, Maksim Chmerkovskiy’s “cup of tea” … Really, Maks?  Because I’ve seen some of your choreography as a Pro on the show … whose leg are you trying to pull, anyway?  Some Producer’s, perhaps? … Maybe you were just trying to prove to him/her/them that you can be “strict” enough to replace Len Goodman?  Because, you know, Len got to be - and indeed sometimes - endearingly “Crabby Len” because he was actually from what most may refer to as a “by-gone era”.  In addition, Maks, given your stated reasoning, that “8” with which you scored the dance was just plain wrong.  And Nick’s dancing which came as no surprise given his Rehearsal Package, once again fell within the category of sub-par.

His Lines were lazy, he still wouldn’t stand up straight and so his Frame was off, and his (what should be, powerful, violent, and strong) movement within the Paso was weak at best.

Following his performance, Nick proclaimed, “Honestly, it was just an honor to dance with her …” (Could have fooled me.) “and I wish that I could dance with every one of these Pros on the show,” (Yeah, and I would reckon that everyone of those Pros were breathing a sigh of relief that that’s not a real possibility.) “ … they are so fantastic; and they do not get enough credit! …”  (Especially when they have the great misfortune of being paired with you, right Nick?)

I'm just saying that Witney, aside from being an excellent dance instructor, is super nice and (in my opinion) did not deserve Nick's 'tude.

All that being said, somehow (incredibly) Witney, once again choreographed a superb Paso Doble ... Great job, Wit!
