DWTS Season 20, Week 05
REVIEW: Chris & Witney
Chris & Witney:
<singing> "Tiptoooooe through the tuliiiips! ... " ... Sorry,
for some reason that song keeps getting stuck in my head whenever I remember
this dance!
Chris Soules and his professional dancing
partner, Witney Carson, danced the Quickstep Monday night to
"Zero to Hero" from Hercules.
Chris & Witney at one of the best moments of their dance. |
Well, Witney danced the Quickstep, anyway!
As for Chris, his dancing was more zero than hero,
I'm afraid, as he seemingly "tiptoed" about the ballroom rather than
performing the actual Quickstep; his complete lack of footwork, frame,
and musicality being painful to watch at best!
Don't get me wrong ... I like Chris ... even though he made Witney cry!! ... but, I do hope that he'll give it a serious effort next week!

The Greek theme worked for Witney; for Chris, not so much. |
To top it all off, it must be said, (while I do understand
what the costume department was trying to go for) poor Chris' dancing outfit,
with its subtle feminesque flourishes, ended up coming off more Martina
Navratilova … no … make that, Chris Evert ... than Grecian toga!

Witney, on the other hand, was perfect as always,
and positively adorable in her Grecian get-up! Plus, her choreography for
this playful, Disney Night routine was absolutely marvelous!
You go, Witney!!
You go, Witney!!
The Hercules-inspired choreography was wonderful, despite Chris' defeatist attitude in practice and performance. |
