REVIEW: Nastia & Derek
Nastia & Derek:
Nastia Liukin and her professional
dancing partner, Derek Hough, closed out Disney Night with a
wonderful Jazz number to "Love is an Open Door" from Frozen!

I really like Frozen, and I, of course, can't help but really enjoy the song, "Let It Go" (Duh!); but, I honestly couldn't picture an any-kind-of-decent (much less, a 10-worthy) routine coming together when choreographed to "Love Is An Open Door", one of Frozen's (Ahem, excuse my candidness) many less-than-memorable song attempts ... even in the capable hands of Derek Hough!
In addition, I think that anyone would have to be blind
to not see that Nastia is a total shoe-in for playing the role of Elsa
(C'mon, she looks just like her, right?!), but instead she
is handed a song that forces her to play the role of red-headed Anna !?!
Furthermore that meant that Derek was left to portray THE villain of the film !?! (Did anyone else actually see the movie !?!)

That decision just didn't make sense to me.
But, having said that, I'm very happy to have been wrong!
Nastia's dancing (and acting!) was Disney-Princess-perfection and, she made a terrific Anna!

And Derek, "spectacular" as always, choreographed a piece that took an unimpressive tune and turned it into a most enjoyable and unforgettable experience!

It was like watching a live show in one of the Disney
parks! ... Disney should totally hire him … ... oh wait!
