Hayes & Emma – Review of DWTS Season 21, Week 07

DWTS Season 21, Week 07

REVIEW:  Hayes & Emma

Dancing a Waltz to “Once Upon a Dream” by Lana Del Rey, Hayes Grier and his partner, Emma Slater, presented their Week 07 routine.

I must say, I really enjoyed this dance!

Hayes’ impressive Frame, Musicality, Lines, and overall execution of this performance were notably good, and not too easily achieved, considering the fact that the song was slowed down to a snail’s pace (<Clearing throat awkwardly> The song was already a ¾ time “Waltz”, people.  What on earth are you doing?!).

But with all this, I have to add, concerning the choreography, that I cannot understand the thinking behind the concept
of this dance … Hayes & Emma were dancing to “Once Upon a Dream” from the 2015 Disney movie, Maleficent, right?  I’m just gonna go out on a limb here and submit the (apparently-crazy) notion that the dance’s Creative Concept, Costumes, and Set Designs were already laid out for Emma …

Was there even ONE Werewolf character throughout the entire film?!

Don’t get me wrong ... As I said, I really did enjoy this routine; and, sweet, likeable Emma rates all kinds of “passes” within the show (!) … I’m just saying … it is a little silly, right?

Alexa & Mark – Review of DWTS Season 21, Week 07

DWTS Season 21, Week 07

REVIEW:  Alexa & Mark

For their Week 07 routine, Alexa PenaVega and her Professional partner, Mark Ballas, danced a theatrical Paso Doble to “Hora Zero” by Rodrigo y Gabriela.

Characteristically-Clever and predictably-wacky, this dance proved to be yet another great from the creative genius that is Mark, with its full-blown Costumes, its heavy peppering of Paso content, and its just-the-right amount of fun and light moments!

(A big shout out goes out to DWTS’ Troupe Members, BTW, whose portrayal of the routine’s dancing bushes and shrubbery was totally adorbs!)

As for Alexa, I found her dancing overall to rate a “Very Good”; but, her Steps and Frame lacked that very critical fierce, Paso-ing “Umph!”,  bringing down her efforts (and score) to a less-than-perfect exhibition.

Nick & Sharna – Review of DWTS Season 21, Week 07

DWTS Season 21, Week 07
REVIEW:  Nick & Sharna

Dancing an Argentine Tango to “Bring Me to Life” by Evanescence, featuring Paul McCoy, Nick Carter and his Professional partner, Sharna Burgess, presented their routine.

DWTS Season 21, Week 07 -
halloween Week

Well, not exactly Nick’s best dance that we have seen from him this Season!

Sloppy Lines and a once-again horribly hunching Frame was displayed by Nick during this routine, tying him, along with Tamar Braxton, for the night’s lowest score of all 8’s.

“I don’t need someone to kiss my@$$,” stated Nick in his pre-dance Rehearsal Package of Judge Carrie Ann Inaba’s critiquing of his Week 06 Samba. – Okay, well, duly noted, I guess … but if I may, just out of curiosity, just who did you suppose was making this offer?

“People have a hard time giving me the real because I’m a Backstreet Boy and all those things …”  – Not too caught up on yourself, eh Nicky?  And anyway, I think that it has been made abundantly clear since Week 01 that none of the DWTS Judges have fallen prey to this sweeping “epidemic”; so, I’m confused ... Why are we talking about this again?

“I want to be better so that I can earn that perfect score!” – Well, join the club, Nick, because who in this competition doesn’t?

“I don’t want it given to me, I want to earn it!” – Wait, surely you’re not implying that perfect scores have been “given” to some of the other competitors, right?

“I want to know that I’ve exhausted every bit of my being and my soul to get it!” – Well, Nick, you’ve yet to exhaust even an 1/8 of that much, particularly in your shoulder blade area, when it comes to properly standing fully erect while dancing ...

The thing that really bugs me about what is in my opinion all this false modesty is, why do I get the distinct impression that you are trying to pull something, Nick?

Tamar & Val – Review of DWTS Season 21, Week 07

DWTS Season 21, Week 07
REVIEW:
Tamar & Val

Dancing a Foxtrot to “People Are Strange” by The Doors, Tamar Braxton and what must be her very embarrassed Professional partner, Valentin Chmerkovskiy, submitted their routine.

Tamar & Val
DWTS Season 21, Week 07 -
halloween Week

Once again barely meeting that seemingly-elusive (for Tamar, at least) Halfway-Decent standard for Ballroom Dancing, Tamar’s lazy execution, unfinished Lines, and “My Cat Just Died”, disconnected, numb-faced expression, “solidified” her inept, Sub-par ability in this competition.

Tamar & Val
DWTS Season 21, Week 07 -
halloween Week

“Last week’s scores [of all 10’s, though I still cannot understand why] solidified the fact that I am a contender in this competition!” declared the self-impressed Ballroom Blight known as Tamar during her pre-dance Rehearsal Package.  “… I can pick up my steps in three hours,” - Can you now? – “and messin’ up is not gonna work anymore, it’s about bringing it!” – Is it really, Tamar?  Then what, I ask you, was this lethargic slop you were dancing, because what it wasn’t was a contending Foxtrot …
“… It’s hard for me to say without coming across being shady; but, I’m probably the best dancer in the competition.”  Tamar went on to reveal of her inner delusions.

Oh!  Oh, you poor, misguided thing!  I am so sorry, why I had no idea that this is how you saw yourself!  No wonder you haven’t been able to learn squat and progress since the start of this Season!  … With or without the allotted three hours …
<Tsk, tsk, tsk>  So very tragic.

DWTS Team Dances Fantasy Picks (S21, Wk07)

Season 21, Week 07 Team Dances

Fantasy Picks

Next up on DWTS’ exciting 21st Season is the highly-anticipated and always-gratifying Team Dances challenge; and, like any good little DWTS-loving nut, here are my Fantasy Picks of which Couples will be recruited for each Team.

Of Course, the two Couples averaging the highest scores of the Season thus far will be automatically named the Captains of the two competing Teams; and as such, will be allowed to choose, in turn, which other 3 Couples they would like to have on the Team with them.

And so, Here is my Season 21, Week 07 Team Fantasy Picks:

Team#1:

Bindi & Derek (Team Captains)

Carlos & Witney

Alexa & Mark

Alek & Lindsay

Oh, come now, that is an absolute GORGEOUS Team line-up, especially when you take into account the 4 Choreographers and Pros that would be working together; not to mention, this Fantasy Team only includes what are probably the best Celebrity Dancers on the show – Except for Nick Carter, who must Captain the opposing Team as he possesses the overall second-highest score average of the Season.  Plus it would uber cool if real life Best Friends Derek and Mark, and Witney & Lindsay, got to all dance together.  And finally, how cute/great would it be if the PenaVegas got to compete WITH each other for once?

Team#2:

Nick & Sharna (Team Captains)

Andy & Allison

Tamar & Val

Hayes & Emma

While perhaps not the best possible Team line-up when it comes to Celebrity Dancers, this Fantasy Team most certainly has a terrific Choreographer line-up; and, I also think that this particular grouping of Amateurs and Pros would bring with it a whole lotta fun!
