Earn Top Scores for Season 21’s

Spectacular Semifinals Night!!

(Part 02)

PART 02 of DWTS’ exciting, sequin-bedecked Semifinals saw Season 21’s only two Dynamite Duos, Bindi & Derek and Carlos & Witney, face off as they Brilliantly Battled it out on the Ballroom Dance floor in an all out Fabulous Fight for next Week’s glittering Finals, successfully meeting each other at the top of Monday night’s Leader Board in a gripping, edge-of-your-seat TIE of 60 points!!:

For their final Week 10 routine, Bindi Irwin and her Professional partner, Derek Hough, joined dancing forces with recently-Eliminated Pro and 2-time Mirror Ball Champion, Mark Ballas, and danced an artistic Jazz Number Trio to “Resolve” by Nathan Lanier.

Ladies and Gentlemen, earning YET ANOTHER perfect score of all 10’s from the judges, it’s the Dynamite Team of Bindi & Derek, and it is so (so, SO) very well-deserved!!

Bindi’s dancing and Technical execution proved once again, and for the third time this Night, exquisite (!) with her perfectly in-sync Movements, fantastic Frame, beautiful Lines, and some seriously-mad “Ninja” skills!

Bindi Irwin ... Mad Ninja

Of course, the combined choreographic brilliance exhibited by creative-greats, Derek and Mark, succeeded in making this dance yet another winning and unforgettable routine in an already long and distinguished line of performances conceptualized by this seemingly-unstoppable pair, with its exciting, artistic, and edgy Steps and Sequences,

although I did think that maybe the choreography of this dance leaned more towards “Contemporary” than “Jazz”!

Regardless, in the end, I LOVED it and found it to be one of the Night’s (MUCH) better and memorable dances!!

Carlos & Witney with Karina -Trio Round:

Teaming up with Season 21 Eliminated Pro and Season 13’s Mirror Ball Champion, Karina Smirnoff, to dance an AMAZING Charleston to “Booty Swing” by Parov Stelar, Carlos PenaVega and his Professional dancing partner, Witney Carson, presented their last Semifinals routine.

Carlos & Witney

Well, first off, it should be said, I thought that it was very sweet and thoughtful of Witney to have remembered and selected Karina - Who, it can be argued, gave young Wit her start as a Pro on the show, back in Season 17’s Trio Round Jazz, with Corbin Bleu! - For this Trio!

And secondly, the Team of Carlos & Witney just totally, and once again, KILLED this dance!!

… And pulverized it, and stomped it into the ground, and set fire to it, and spread the ashes at Sea …

I mean to say, this Crazy-fun Charleston number has got to be one of the BEST Trio Round dances that the show has ever seen!!

met with some truly fine, in-synced, perfectly-executed dancing by Carlos,

and an INCREDIBLE, Trio Lift (Seriously, can I just watch that Lift again … and AGAIN ?!)

It would seem, however, that these thrilling efforts proved a rather pointless display of refined excellence when it came down to receiving a fair and just scoring, as the dance was yet again UNDERSCORED by Judge Carrie Ann Inaba, whose condescending awarding of a highly-offensive “9” was met with loud booing from the show’s live audience, and which prompted the show’s Host, Tom Bergeron, to purposefully pause the goings-on in order to voice the question, “ What would've been the difference between a nine and a ten for you? ” “I think, as a group, ... ” Carrie Ann answered lamely, “ ...it didn't all come together. ”

Okay, okay, that is it! You’ve finally done it, Carrie Ann ... You’ve overplayed your high and lofty, haughty hand; and now, we the Fans, no longer have to guess … Something IS most definitely out of place here as anyone who watches the show knows that, despite any “Off weeks” you may have exhibited throughout past Seasons in judging dance, you have never been (and are still not) that STUPID!

In my opinion, you know good and well that this dance was not in the slightest bit out of sync and therefore LIED (rather badly, I might add) about the reason/s behind your underscoring of this dance.

What is it, Carrie Ann, hmmm? Why are you seemingly going out of your way to be so very mean to poor Carlos & Witney?

Do you just NOT like them, or something?!

Have you ever even given the undeniably STELLAR #TeamBrownSugar a perfect score of “10” during this entire Season? Well, let’s see …

<Reviewing past scores given by Carrie Ann to Carlos & Witney since the beginning of the Season> A-ha! Here we are … okay, so your first perfect (so graciously bestowed!) score of “10” for the fabulous duo that is Carlos & Witney was for their Week 05 … oh, wait! My bad, that wasn’t Carlos & WITNEY at all! … Week 05, as we all know, was Switch-up Week, and so Carrie Ann’s first bestowed “10” was for Carlos & Lindsay, not Witney.

<Continuing to re-read past scores> Alright, alright, here we go … in Week 06, you scored Carlos & Witney’s Magic Mike Rumba with a “10”, but, c’mon and let’s be real here, that was probably due to Artem

<Continuing my review of past scores> Well! I guess that was it then. Those were the only “10”s given by you, Carrie Ann, for Carlos & Witney … And one of them didn’t even involve WITNEY!

<Smacking head > Oh, wait, hold on a second! Is THAT it?! … Is it not “Carlos & Witney” but just simply “WITNEY” that’s bothering you?! REALLY ?!!

Are you, like, envious of Witney for some reason/s? … Because, if so, that would be just so very wrong, embarrassing, cliché, and (not to mention) plain pathetic.

Dancing an Amazing Argentine Tango to “Ex’s & Oh’s” by Elle King, with Season 21 Eliminated Pro and rumored Alek-Crush (Are these two EVER gonna get to that date?!) Emma Slater, Alek Skarlatos and his Professional partner, Lindsay Arnold presented their last Semifinals routine.

The 9’s subsequently awarded by the show’s Judges Panel were, unarguably RIDICULOUS and so very shameful as this dance CLEARLY deserved no less than 10’s!!

Nick & Sharna

For their final Week 10 routine, Nick Carter and his Professional partner, Sharna Burgess, were joined by Season 14’s Mirror Ball Champion Pro, Peta Murgatroyd, for the superb dancing of a fun Salsa to “No Doubt About It” by Empire cast, featuring Jussie Smollett and Pitbull.

Semifinals Dance-Offs - Review of DWTS Season 21, Week 10

DWTS Season 21, Week 10

REVIEW:  Semifinals Dance-Offs

Due to the unexpected and, oh, let’s just say it, RUDE mid-week Withdrawal and exit by Tamar Braxton, DWTS Producers elected to fill Week 10’s now-vacant time slots with the exhibition of another Season 21 Dance-Off.

Unlike its Week 08 predecessor, given the peculiar circumstances which accompanied the event, the show’s participating, 4 Semifinalist Couples were not afforded the opportunity to choose a Dance Style or Opposing Couple, but were instead assigned a Dance AND a Couple previous to Monday night’s live show.

The Dance-Offs were then voted on by the show’s Judging Panel which was once more given special paddles displaying the name of each competing Couple to further aid the judges in plainly exhibiting their Dance-Off Winners of choice.

The Winner of each Dance-Off was then awarded with an additional bonus of 3 points, which were immediately added to that Couple’s Night's score.

Alek & Lindsay

Dancing a Cha-Cha to “Fun” by Pitbull, Carlos PenaVega, Witney Carson, Alek Skarlatos, and Lindsay Arnold kicked off the Night’s Dance-Off redux.

Carlos & Witney
DWTS S21, Wk 10 - Semi-Finals

Well, not at all surprisingly, the Winners of this Dance-Off were made clear right off, with Carlos & Witney’s great Choreography, terrific Rhythm, and some perfectly, almost naturally-executed Steps!

Carlos & Witney
DWTS S21, Wk 10 - Semi-Finals
- Dance-offs

Carlos’ Technical execution was, as usual, first-rate with a fantastically-held and seemingly-effortless Frame being combined with smooth ease of Movement and Footing!

Carlos & Witney
DWTS S21, Wk 10 - Semi-Finals
- Dance-offs

Alek’s efforts, while remaining fun and respectfully adequate, fell short on the other hand; and, Lindsay’s Choreography - disastrously inferior to Witney’s.

Alek & Lindsay
DWTS S21, Wk 10 - Semi-Finals
- Dance-offs

Oddly enough, the Judges' opinion of the two performances was shown to be split with Judges Julianne Hough and Bruno Tonioli voting for Carlos & Witney and Carrie Ann “Full of It” Inaba voting for Alek & Lindsay.

<Record Scratch> Okay, seriously, Carrie Ann, WHAT is going on with you when it comes to ill-judging the seemingly-singled-out Team of Carlos & Witney ‘cause (as much as I like Alek) that decision’s insane, and you know it! …

Dance Off #02 - Bindi & Derek vs. Nick & Sharna:

For their second performances of the evening, Bindi Irwin, Derek Hough, Nick Carter, and Sharna Burgess each danced a Samba to “Lean On” by Major Lazer and DJ Snake, featuring .

Bindi & Derek
DWTS S21, Wk 10 - Semi-Finals
- Dance-offs

Nick & Sharna
DWTS S21, Wk 10 - Semi-Finals
- Dance-offs

Wow!! Talk about your close calls, the Sambas exhibited by Bindi & Derek and Nick & Sharna respectively were so very excellent, it was very nearly impossible to choose between them!

Bindi’s dancing, which took on a more mature flavor than her night’s previous Salsa routine, was characteristically fast, exquisite, and full of fun with some seriously impressive tricks being thrown in just for some good, kick-@$ measure!

Nick’s Samba-ing was equally enjoyable with his trade-mark Musicality and terrific Showmanship aiding him in displaying a truly remarkable performance; and, as for Derek’s and Sharna’s Choreography of the routines, it practically goes without saying that each dance was brilliantly put together, resulting in a spectacular, ½ minute mini-show that was thrilling to watch!!
