Brittany Cherry:

Hey, alright!  Brittany’s back!!  The former beloved DWTS Troupe Member could be seen last Monday evening hanging around in the Ballroom’s always happening Red Room, presumably catching up with her friends and fellow Dancers!

Tyra Banks:

This famed Supermodel, as well as Executive Producer and Host for the hit Television Series, America’s Next Top Model, was present on Monday within the Glitter Dome, openly cheering for A.N.T.M.’s Season 22 winner, Nyle DiMarco, who would eventually take home DWTS' Season 22’s very first perfect “10” (as was awarded him by Head Judge, Len Goodman) for his beautifully executed Viennese Waltz with his Switch Up Pro partner, Sharna Burgess!

Nyle & Sharna Are The High-Scorers! – DWTS S22, Wk05

Nyle Regains the LEAD,

Along With His Switch Up Partner,

Sharna, Earning the Season’s

First “10”!!

Ladies and Gentlemen, taking home the
VERY FIRST “10” OF THE SEASON, it’s Actor/Model, Nyle “This guy ASTOUNDS me!” DiMarco, and his Switch Up Professional partner, Sharna Burgess, dancing a Viennese Waltz to “I Get to Love You” by Ruelle!

- Switch-up Week

Well, first off, as this really should be said, MAJOR Props absolutely have to go out to the ever-AMAZING Sharna, who, despite - unarguably - acquiring the most challenging “Switch Up” of all the Season 22 Professionals, once again displayed a level of ability and excellence that has become synonymous with the name, Burgess, on this show!

Nyle & Sharna

And now, secondly, (and of course) even GREATER Props go out to the always INCREDIBLE Nyle, who deftly brought this beautifully Choreographed Piece masterfully to life with a purely delightful, flowing combination of Graceful Steps, Wonderful Musicality, and a Brilliantly-Executed, Quietly-Passionate Character Portrayal!
(Can you tell that I loved it?!)

Nyle & Sharna
DWTS Season 22, Week 05
- Switch-up Week

“Wow!”
a justly emotional Carrie Ann Inaba remarked simply, following the Performance.

“I mean, you take my breath away …” she continued.  “At first I thought [that] maybe, at the beginning of this Competition, you were at a disadvantage [because of your Deafness]; but, when I watch you perform, I realize that you’re [actually] at an advantage, because you’ve been telling stories with your body, and communicating with your body, your whole life!  You were born to dance!”

Nyle & Sharna
DWTS Season 22, Week 05
- Switch-up Week

“I’ll tell you what that was,” threw
in Head Judge, Len Goodman, “that was like a total Eclipse: It don’t turn up often, but when it does, it’s Fan-tastic!”

“It’s so hard” began Guest Judge, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, “- It’s hard for me to comprehend - I know you, I know you well, [and yet] it’s hard for me to understand how this is possible:  It’s the best dance of the Night … it had so much Musicality, so much Musicality - which is mind-boggling how it’s possible - amazing job!”

Nyle & Sharna
DWTS Season 22, Week 05
- Switch-up Week

“… You have to be made of granite not to fall head-over-heels-in-love with that Performance!” added Judge, Bruno Tonioli, in conclusion, right before the gratifying Switch Up Pairing that was Nyle & Sharna went on to receive the highest score awarded so far within this Season, as well as the Season’s very first “10”, a hard-earned and sweet reward that came additionally wrapped within the Glitter Dome’s greatest honor, as this particular “10” was presented by none other than Len himself!

A job so very well done; and, I couldn’t be happier for this well-deserving, Week 05 Couple!!

Nyle & Sharna
DWTS Season 22, Week 05
- Switch-up Week

… That said, and while I don’t necessarily consider myself to be a “granite-born”, hard-@$$, I do feel that, in all fairness, it must be added that, personally, I didn’t think that this Viennese Waltz was Nyle's best dance.

Now, now, before you all go understandably blowing your tops, let me first add that I think that Nyle's dancing has been absolutely incredible during the previous Weeks; and, that he has certainly missed out on MORE than his fair share of “10”s throughout this Season overall ... It’s just that this Week 05 Performance (compared to his others) was just not his best, thus begging the question, how did it, of all his Dances receive a "10"?

Put simply:  It cannot be any kind of revelation to viewers of this show that one of the greater challenges that Nyle would eventually find himself facing within the Art of Ballroom Dance is that of Leading within a Routine so, it also cannot be of any small surprise that a staunchly Framed and classically Ballroom display, such as the Viennese Waltz, would bring this very natural dancing-hardship unmercifully to light, as was the case during this Dance, via a Hunched Frame, and some notably Stiff and even Hesitant Movement within an otherwise Fluid Performance.

Still, the above negative notations having been listed in an almost painful effort to be Fair and Honest, I absolutely and 100% loved this Performance, and can even be THRILLED at the Dance’s resulting “10”, as Nyle really has deserved one from the start of the Season!

Jodie & Val – Review of DWTS Season 22, Week 05

DWTS Season 22, Week 05

REVIEW: Jodie & Val

Dancing a Powerful Paso Doble to “Under Control” by Calvin Harris and Alesso, featuring Hurts, it’s Fuller House star, Jodie Sweetin, and her Switch Up Professional partner (and Fuller House co-star), Valentin Chmerkovskiy!

Jodie & Val
DWTS Season 22, Week 05
- Switch-up Week

(So wait, now hold on a minute here, because I’m getting a bit confused!  … Was it the Sitcom, Full House, from which Val had learned English, and subsequently, Jodie Sweetin, in the role of Stephanie Tanner, that he had harbored his “first crush in America” on.  Or was it the Sitcom, The Wonder Years, from which he had learned English, and subsequently, Danica McKellar, (Val’s Season 18 partner) in the Role of Wendy Cooper, on whom he had harbored his first crush???  Or maybe it was that Sitcom, Saved by the Bell, from which Val had l
earned English, and it was, subsequently, Elizabeth Berkley, (Val’s Season 17 partner) in the Role of Jessie Spano, on which he had harbored his first crush … No, wait, that wasn’t Elizabeth.  That was her Saved by the Bell co-star, Tiffani-Amber Thiessen, in the role of Kelly Kapowski, on whom he had harbored his first crush … Right??  Anyway, I was just inquiring; because, honestly (and can you blame me?!), I get it all a bit confused!)

<Ahem!> Anyhoo …

WHAT a stellar Performance by Jodie!!

A Fierce Frame, Aggressive Attitude, Sure Footwork, and Strong, Defining Lines will always be welcomed when dancing a Paso; and, Jodie possessed ALL of the above attributes (and so many more!) when executing this Number!!

Jodie & Val
DWTS Season 22, Week 05
- Switch-up Week

I mean to say this Dance was BRILLIANT; and, having been aided by a little Chmerkovskiy Genius (Val always could Choreograph a Magnificent Paso!), undeniably reigned as one of the absolute BEST of the night!!

Jodie & Val
DWTS Season 22, Week 05
- Switch-up Week

“… Full of attack, full of Purpose, well done!” Head Judge, Len Goodman, had gushed concerning this truly
amazing Performance, while Panel Judge, Carrie Ann Inaba, closed down the Judges’ Critiques with the apt phrasing of, “Simple:  for me, that was, by far, your best Dance, you were in the zone!  Everything [was] ‘Confident’, GREAT Partnership!”

… The seemingly ever-hindering “Skirt Swishing” was, if I’m being entirely picky, a tad Sloppy.  (Why does almost every Female Celebrity always act as though their Paso Skirt weighs a Ton?!!);

but, otherwise, I have but one word to describe this Dance:  O-friggin’-le!!

Wanya & Witney – Review of DWTS Season 22, Week 05

DWTS Season 22, Week 05

REVIEW: Wanya & Witney

Dancing a But-you-just-don’t-understand,-Witney,-I-already-know-what-I’m-doing!-Tango to “Hold back the River” by James Bay, it’s “Wannabe Wanya” Morris and his INCREDIBLY-patient Dancing partner, Witney Carson.

Wanya & Witney
DWTS Season 22, Week 05
- Switch-up Week

“The ‘Switch Up’ kinda sucks, in my opinion!” stated Mirror Ball Champion Pro, Witney, in hers and Wanya’s Week 05 pre-Dance Rehearsal Package; AND, given the state of Wanya-things, I can’t say that I blame her!

(Seriously, Wanya, could you be any more full of yourself?)

Performing his worst and (Oh shucks, folks, let’s just say it!) most depressing dance to date while on this show  (C’MON, it should have been like watching “Alfonso & Witney:  Part Two”, right???) Wanya had apparently (in my opinion) decided on this, the 5th Week of Season 22’s Competition, that he no longer needed ANY Instruction within the Art of Dance, as he already knows, understands, and can easily (with the absolute MINIMAL amount of effort required) Execute any and all of the Tango’s Steps and Positions!

… Too bad all of that “Inherent Knowledge” didn’t pay off for him in the end; however, as his Sloppy Footwork, Deplorably Unhinged Frame, and Dead-Pan Facial Expression exhibited while performing this typically fiercely passionate Dance!

Wanya & Witney
DWTS Season 22, Week 05
- Switch-up Week

“When you say ‘Ronde’, I’m thinking I’m supposed to ‘Ronde’.  Don’t do that no more, alright?!” Wanya reproved Witney with during their Week 05 Rehearsals together, also declaring at Witney when she tried improving some of the Steps in the Tango’s Choreography: “NO!  No, no, no, no!  … Here we go, we’re not doing that!  I can get it!”

(Um, yes, well, not to interrupt or insult all the “Dancing Awesomeness” that apparently oozes from Wanya’s every Piss-soaked Facial Pore - Seriously, Did anyone else catch that more-than-disturbing revelation from Wanya about himself during Monday night’s show?? - But, I have a question that I just wanted to insert here …

What the heck is the matter with you, Wanya?!

“The most challenging thing about Switch Up is getting to know the new way of teaching,” Wanya also remarked during his pre-Dance Package … Okay!  Duly and (I guess!) sympathetically noted; so, ... what, then?  You just decided that you weren’t going to listen AT ALL??!

“You gotta do it faster than that, Sweetheart!”,  an aggravated-sounding Wanya also corrected Witney during his Rehearsal Package.

Um, ... No, ... that’s where you’ve got it wrong, “Wanya”, you should be grateful to Witney who played every bit the part of a TRUE Professional, and sweetly graced you with her IMMENSE Talent and Efforts, regardless of your Verbal Batterings, Choreographing one Stupendous Tango!

“… You know, for you [Wanya], it’s been like a trip on the River,” Head Judge, Len Goodman, stated following Wanya’s Terrible Tango-ing Performance. “You’ve just cruised along, without a care in the world!  Well, tonight you hit Turbulent Waters, my friend; because, for me … it was hectic, and [with] too many moving parts!  This <Positioning his Upper Body into a Perfect Frame> has got to stay calm!  THIS is in one piece, stays calm, doesn’t move!  It was too much going on …”

“So, I feel like you’re that Couple that has so many Great Expectations,”
observed Guest Judge, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, “You know, because of all the Performances you’ve done in the past … this is Week 05 and you’ve [addressing Wanya directly] had amazing Numbers that you’ve already pulled out; and, uh, we expected better!  You know, I agree with Len:  Tango is all about NOTHING moving on Top [and] everything happening on the Bottom.  There was a lot of moving parts … You know, we always talk about ‘Frame’ being the hardest thing to do; and, uh, it felt like it was a little, you know, ‘Falling Apart’!  …”

“Falling Apart” indeed, as Wanya (and yes, poor Witney too!) went on to receive some of the Night’s lowest Scored Marks.

… And it's aaallll because of you, Wanya!

Don't worry, Wit. You're choreography was, once again, stellar!  Come back next week and kick some @$$ with Von!
