Ginger & Val – Review of DWTS Season 22, Week 03

DWTS Season 22, Week 03

REVIEW: Ginger & Val

Dancing a Contemporary to “Home” by Phillip Phillips, it’s GMA’s (so far) Mediocre dancing Meteorologist, Ginger Zee, and her Professional partner, Valentin Chmerkovskiy.

Well, folks, and while it gives me no great amount of pleasure to once again say it, the storm clouds just continue to roll in for this Futile Forecaster, as Zee offered on Monday yet another sub-par Drizzle, uh, Dance!

DWTS Season 22, Week 03

An awkward Performance overall, this show-opening Routine which was meant to sweetly carry its Viewers, via smooth artistic-sailing, through the pleasantly flowing waters of Ginger’s life - Including a dramatized re-telling of her First Kiss, Proposal, Married-at-home Life, and Pregnancy - was instead carried out on a rather harsh, choppy current, with the whole of the Dance feeling more “Erratic” and “Tossed about” than anything!

In a Choreographed Routine that could be easily wrapped up into the one, concise word of “Boring” (Sorry, Val!), Ginger’s Footwork did exhibit quite a bit of improvement during the Dance.

Nonetheless, and that having been noted, even THIS fact wasn’t quite enough to render this Routine (and Ginger’s Stiff, Hesitant Framing and Lines) beyond anything more than what could be called “Decent”.

In addition (and I’m sooo sorry, Val, but), we must take a moment and touch on Chmerkovskiy’s sloppy Lift Execution during the beginning of the Performance, which, however unfortunate (and while a chance mistake can certainly happen to anyone), merely served as a significant spotlight on what a Faltering Affair this entire Contemporary Number was!

“You know, Dance is a marriage between Movement and Music,” voiced Head Judge, Len Goodman, following the Dance, “and I thought you really pulled that off!  I would have liked a little bit more Fluidity in the Arms on occasion … But, what a great start to the Show, well done!”

Hmmm.

Well, while I certainly would NOT agree with the “great” part of the above statement, I will owe that this Dance wasn’t THE worst of the evening, nor was it the worst among its <Ahem!> contemporaries; but, it was (most definitely) one of the few, too-close-for-comfort candidates!
