Nyle & Peta – Review of DWTS Season 22, Week 02

DWTS Season 22, Week 02

REVIEW:  Nyle & Peta

Dancing a TRAGICALLY under-scored Rumba to “Stole the Show” by Kygo, featuring Parson James, Nyle DiMarco and his Professional dancing partner, Peta Murgatroyd, submitted their Week 02 Routine.

Wow!  Talk about “Stole the Show”, this Dance was AMAZING!!

An ever-flowing ease of Movement brought this emoting Routine richly to life,

as Tender Gracefulness joined seamlessly with Passionate Romance, sweeping across the Ballroom’s Floor through seemingly effortless Poetry in Motion!

Excellent Frame also, met with some rarely seen (on “Week 02”, at least) exquisite Lines, resulted in what could easily be called one of the absolute BEST Performances of the evening!!

Now, the Content of the Rumba was, admittedly, lacking (as much as it pains me to say it!), with Peta’s Choreography for this Routine most notably including little-to-none of the all-important “Hip Action”; but otherwise, this Dance stood out as being a truly Remarkable and furthermore BRILLIANT exhibition!

“… It’s too hectic!” complained Head Judge, Len Goodman, following the Performance (for reasons we may never quite understand).  “Rumba is the only slow Latin Dance and you waste it by making it so full of Attack and Aggression!  You gotta calm it down, less is more!”

Ooookay, YOU have got to calm it down, Len, because that’s just CRAZY!!

(“Attack” and “Aggression”??? … Pfffffftttt!!)

Honestly, Lenny!  The word, I believe you are searching for, is “Passion” ...

... You know, that primary Characteristic one would EXPECT to find when viewing the “Dance of Love”!  And yes, you are right, this Routine did have that and more to spare; so well spotted!  <Rolling Eyes>

That said, it cannot be denied (as much as I would like to) that this particular Rumba did, all together, lack certain traits necessary to have properly upheld the Standards of the Dance … … So talk to Peta, who (now stay with me) is THE ONE WHO CHOREOGRAPHED IT!!

I mean, good grief, would it have KILLED you, during all this ranting, to offer poor Nyle a verbal pat on the back, or something?!  … Nyle, who merely executed the Steps taught to him for this Routine PERFECTLY?!!!

“I actually thought it was stunning!” countered Judge Carrie Ann Inaba, before ruining this just observation by saying, “… It’s just that, the one thing I’m gonna say [is that],Tempo-wise, I thought it was fantastic - I’m still fascinated with how you do that! – but, what you lacked was a connection to the Musicality, the Tone, of the song! …”

<Omitting a shocked, repulsed gasp as my bottom jaw suddenly smacks off the floor>

Oh - no - you - didn’t!

CARRIE ANNE, you DIDN’T just say that!!

(“And the Insensitivity Award goes to …”)  HE'S DEAF, you colossal moron!!!!

He cannot hear the “song”, nor the “tone” (Nor, thankfully, YOUR tone which, I feel sure, must have sounded better in your head, or at least I hope that it did.); and yet, despite all of these hardships, his “Musicality” rates no less than PERFECT; and, in fact, better than almost ANY other Competitor so far on this Season!!

… You idiots.
