… Is what poor Team Holkerface had to be thinking during their Monday Night, Cirque du Soleil Tango!

(<Wiping Tear> <SNORT!> I kill myself!!)

… But, really I shouldn’t joke, for Babyface’s epic dancing-fail was certainly no laughing matter when displayed during this Routine, especially considering the fact that this particular Creative Concept only served to <Ahem!> highlight Babyface's total lack of passion and generally apathetic take on what could easily be dubbed as a most – dare I say? – BORING showing from the Musician!

Sorry, man, but you know, you simply can’t win them all!

Performing two Jives (We-e-e-ell … “Performing”, at any rate!), Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds & Allison Holker faced-off against fellow DWTS Couple, Jana Kramer & Glen Savchenko in an not-so-hot Battle of the Flicks and Kicks!

… “Babyface”, Lead Feet!

Slow, dragging, and just a bit of an epic-downer, Babyface’s non-Jiving-skillz proved a disappointing and uneventful affair, as his much more understated approach to what is a  stereo-typically fast and furious Style of Dance served to lull its Viewers rather than excite them.

Kudos do, of course, go out to Allison on the other hand, whose up-beat and enthusiastic Choreography made sure to keep audiences on their toes …if not her Celebrity Partner!



Jana & Gleb:


Ooo, ouch!!

Well, folks, it would appear that we, the Fans, were doomed to see not one but TWO unmerciful butcherings of that (evidently!) long-lost Ballroom concept, the Jive, as Country Music Singer, Jana’s, decisively more chaotic take on this Dance proved every bit as DISASTROUS as her Contender's!

Spastic, Flat-footed, and – dare I say? – CLUNKY, this particularly painful performance was undoubtedly Jana’s absolute worst to date; and was made even more horribly poignant by her partner Gleb’s misguided attempt to cover up Jana’s obvious lack of Technical ability by adding even more Dance Steps that were little to completely unrelated to an actual Jive, instead of using that same time to better tutor her in the art of Kicks and Flicks!

Sorry, guys!  … Team Glamer is still easily one of my personal favorites within the Competition, so come back and do better, alright?

DWTS Season 23, Week 02 REVIEW:  Babyface & Allison

Dancing the Argentine Tango to “The X Files” by Mark Snow, from The X Files, Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds and his Professional Dance Partner, Allison Holker, presented their Week 02 Routine.

Whoa!  Color me Impressed, Babyface’s got some moves!!

Okay, so sure, I’ll grant you that, while dancing, his back may have been just a bit hunched, and that his Kicks ma-a-a-ay not have been at the peak of perfection, or anything; but even still, overall, I found this dramatic showing to be one the better Dances of the evening!

Furthermore, I thought that his scores were a tad harsh, Judges!

(I mean, c'mon, people!  …. Having to perform the Argentine Tango on Week 02?!!  Sheesh, have a heart!)

And let’s talk Allison for just a moment, shall we?!  Who knew that ANYONE was capable of turning that none-song into that dark, steely, and - above all - LATIN Routine that she (with the help,of course, of a certain Producer!) did??!!

Allie, Allie, you GENIUS, you!

All in all, loved it, Team Holkerface, so keep it on up!

Ooo, but I love this next Dance, “Deed I do”!

Smooth, classy, and chocked full of charisma, I’d even venture to add that it may be impossible for anyone NOT to love the Foxtrotting effort made by this particular Music Industry Legend!

Okay, so maybe Babyface’s dancing wasn’t at all the greatest; but, for what it lacked in technical execution, it more than up for with a fantastic feeling of fluidity, combined with a sort of upper-class condescension that PERFECTLY suited this particular style of Dance!

Of course, many or all of these attributes can also be solely credited to Allison’s always gratifying choreography (It really is GREAT to have you back, Allie!) which simultaneously transported its audience back to the glitz and glamour of old Hollywood style of performing while also keeping just the right amount of a modern edge-yness left securely intact!
