Receiving an “Adios!” from the Ballroom and its Fans on Week 06 of the Show, Season 23’s Amber Rose and her Professional Partner, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, received DWTS' always-dreaded, neatly- glittering, official Boot on Monday evening, resulting in the nearly-predictable wrap up of its highly-successful and spicy Latin Night.

Dancing a Sloppy Samba to “Woman Up” by Meghan Trainor, Amber Rose and her Pro Partner, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, performed their Week 05 Routine.

And while I would very much love to report that Amber’s amazing Dancing Streak from last Week's Cirque du Soleil Night had continued on into this last Monday’s efforts, Alas and Alak!  Such was simply not the case.

Lazy, timid, hunched, and never quite fully Extended, this Latin Performance unfortunately severed as one of Amber’s worst to date; and, furthermore, landed, by evenings’ end, as one of the least impressive showings of the entire episode!

Sorry, Amber, but what’s true is true; and, what’s under-Danced is (most uncomfortably!) under-Danced.  But hey!  There’s always next Week – thanks to DWTS' always elating No Elimination Surprise at the close of Most Memorable Year Night’s Show! – so come back and do better, okay?

… ‘Cause judging by your Week 04 Argentine Tango, improvement is a very real possibility for you and – take heart! – that’s not always true for every Competitor.

DWTS Season 23, Week 04

Heating up Cirque du Soleil Night’s already hot and happening Dance Floor, Amber & Maks’ – Shall we say? – much more sensual take on the Latin Standard, Argentine Tango (if the above achievement were even possible!), effectively steamed up the Glitter Dome's Ballroom on Monday evening and, even more so, demanded its due propers in Attention and Scores,

 which – for reasons unknown to any one with sense! 
– were not given by DWTS' presiding Panel Judges ...

… a fault that so clearly lied with their (questionable) sanity, as it most certainly did not with the dancing of this Number!

 Fierce, well-Framed, Sharp-edged, and Passionate almost – but never fully!   … Great job, Maks!  - to a fault this Routine easily found itself by Performance’s end as one of the best Dances of Season 23 put together (!!) and was most certainly one the Night’s greatest and more epic accomplishments!!

Amber & Maks vs. Maureen & Artem – Review of DWTS Face-off, Season 23, Week 03

Face-off REVIEW:

Maureen & Artem

Performing two Salsas, Amber Rose & Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Maureen McCormick & Artem Chigvintsev face-offed on DWTS' Monday night’s Dance Floor, livin' it up la vida loca-style!


Amber & Maks:


Albeit a generally entertaining Performance, I must still admit to being overall less than impressed with this Routine; but, perhaps not wholly for the reasons as one might think …

Amber’s Dancing and overall Performance Pizzazz, while not exactly thriller (Perhaps heels might have helped??) was every bit on par – if not slightly advanced – from her two previous Weeks of Competition, having notably thrown herself into the Routine and participated with an eagerness that was somewhat fun, pleasing, and infectious.

Maks, on the other hand, was the part of the Dance that I found notably lacking, particularly in regards to his lack of Content in Choreography!

Oh, there was plenty of enjoyment to be had, to be sure; and, Maks' delightful inclusion of a Selfie Break within the Dance was - undoubtedly - genius (!!),

but in the end, I found Team Spicy Salsa’s Performance to include more Spice then Salsa, unfortunately marking it as one of the lesser attempts of the evening!



Maureen & Artem:


In stark opposition to their Face-off Week opponents, Muareen & Artem’s more traditional take on this Latin Style Dance was zesty, classic, and stereo-typically charming!

Fun, rhythmic, and surprisingly Fluid, Maureen’s execution of this particularly difficult Routine was decidedly better in every way then that of Amber’s, thanks, in large part to Artem and his solely-Content-filled Choreography and Artistic Concept.

Ok ... Mmm-hmm ... Well, I have to ask,  have y'all ever actually seen Game of Thrones?

If not, ... Dudes! ... Really?

If so, how in the Seven Kingdoms did this dance come to be?

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm the last one to come down hard on Maks - he is one of my all-time favorite Pros; and, I'm (still) so thrilled to have him back in the ballroom - it's just that this particular dance fell kind of short of my expectations.

I mean, first off, Maks, you're dancing a Viennese Waltz to Game of Thrones ... Dude! Put some umph into it!!

(On the other hand – and this does bare mentioning! – perhaps this disastrous Routine wasn’t ALL Maks' fault, since the always elative (if not successful! ) pairing of the “Game of Thrones Theme” and the Viennese Waltz HAS already been quite stamped – and the standard irrevocably set! – by that marvelous Season 17 Couple, Corbin Bleu and Karina Smirnoff!

Secondly, Amber, to your credit, you danced a pretty good Viennese Waltz; but, just a quick side note: How about next week we get on the balls of those feet ... remember, it's Daenerys Stormborn not Daenerys Flatfoot ... just sayin'.

Don't worry though, guys! It is, after all, only Week 02 - there's still plenty of time and lots of room to grow!

So, here's hoping Elimination misses you two (really hoping ... if Maks goes home this early I'll cry and cry and cry!) so that you can come back next week and dance even better - I know you guys can do it!
