DWTS Elimination: Kim & Sasha AND Von & Witney – Season 22, Week 07

Kim Fields and Sasha Farber
AND
Von Miller and Witney Carson
ELIMINATED
on Dancing With The Stars

Dancing With The Stars' Fans and Ballroom witnessed the dismal departure of not one but TWO Couples last Monday Evening as part of the show’s unnerving Double Elimination Night!

The Facts of Life Star, Kim Fields,

Kim & Sasha
DWTS Season 22, Week 07
- Icons Night

and Super Bowl Champion MVP, Von Miller,

Von & Witney
DWTS Season 22, Week 07
- Icons Night

each unwittingly closed down their respective, gratifying Seasons with one last Latin Hoorah, with Fields having performed a  (suffice it to say) Subpar Samba to a Jackson 5 hit – solidifying her as one of those unfortunate DWTS few to end their dancing Weeks on their worst Dance to date

– and with Miller (in stark opposition) having performed one of his best Dances to date, thrusting out a kingly Salsa to an Elvis Presley classic!

The Eliminated pair capped off
their last Competitive hours under the Glitter Dome's roof, each taking part in opposing Team Dance Freestyles in an all out, Guys vs. Gals, Ballroom showdown with Miller’s James Brown crew firmly defeating Fields' BeyoncĂ© ladies.

I must say that I had found myself a little more than shocked at the Night’s final result of sending Von home along with Kim (who, let’s face it, had to be the next Celeb to hit the California bricks, however unfortunate), seeing as how it was CLEARLY GMA Meteorologist Ginger Zee's turn to go next, having consistently displayed a much lazier form of dancing and Performance pizzazz overall throughout the Season!

Not to mention, I find it hard to believe that Super Bowl's reigning Champ – and, let’s not forget, MVP! - Von's Football Nation votes failed to effortlessly SQUASH (what would presumably be) Ginger’s  comparatively insignificant crowd of Weather-watchers.

Upon being formally Eliminated from the Ballroom, Kim expressed a fair amount of surprise concerning what she clearly deemed to be her untimely exit (which reaction inspired within myself an equal, if not, much more amused emotion), before graciously noting that she was “grateful for the opportunity” to have been part of the show, while Von commented that his time on the show had allowed him not only a pleasing life experience, but also the making of a new-found and endeared friend as well, remarking, “… It's been so much fun!  … Me and Witney, we have a special relationship …”

REVIEW: Von & Witney

Dancing a kingly Salsa to “A Little Less Conversation” by Elvis Presley, reigning Super Bowl Champ and MVP, Von Miller, and his (Seriously too-cute) Pro partner,  Witney “Priscilla” Carson, presented their Week 07 Routine!

Hey!  With a little less Walk and a little more Dancing, Von absolutely KILLED this Routine!!

“Mercy!”  This next and, sadly, FINAL (<Sniff!>) Performance by the always Delighting Duo that is TeamBlondeMiller was ALL kinds of Fabulous Fun!!

Von & Witney
DWTS Season 22, Week 07

Wonderful Choreography was (Of Course!) once again display by the ever-Lovely Witney within this Routine, as was an all new and higher level of Rhythm, Footwork, and Pizzazz by Miller!

And what about those Lifts?!  Those CRAZY, nail-biting Lifts that were so beautifully pulled off and 100% THRILLING to behold!!

“Well, it was like a Pizza,” Head  Judge,  Len Goodman, described of the Performance afterwards.  “It was a bit crusty at the base, but tasty up top; and, the Lifts were spec-tac-u-lar!  Well done!”

Yes, all in all, one simply couldn’t help but fall in love (Get it?) with this Dazzling Dance; and, speaking as one of its besotted, I would like to take this opportunity to say to Von & Witney concerning it (Ohhh, YES, I am SOOO going there! …) “Uh, Thank you .  Thank you very much!”

Von & Witney – Review of DWTS Season 22, Week 06

DWTS Season 22, Week 06

REVIEW: Von & Witney

Dancing Jazz to "Bad" by Michael Jackson, Super Bowl Champion and MVP, Von Miller, along with his Professional dancing partner, Witney Carson, presented their Famous Dances Night Routine!

You know he's bad!  (He's bad!)  Who knew it?!

Von & Witney
DWTS Season 22, Week 06
- Famous Dances Night

Honestly, when I heard that this 6'3" Sports Star would be dancing Michael Jackson-style to, well, Michael Jackson, I was just a little more than worried for his Week 06 Score!

But the re-paired, "Thriller"-Duo that is Von & Witney just came out on Monday night and proved that they have still (and very much so!) "got a good thing going"!

Von & Witney
DWTS Season 22, Week 06
- Famous Dances Night

A no less than FANTASTIC display, this "Off the Wall" Routine for Von included all the right and "Smooth Criminal" Moves, as his In-sync Steps, and delightful Character Portrayal helped to make this Performance one of Von's best to date!!

Von & Witney
DWTS Season 22, Week 06

Naturally, we also cannot forget his ever-radiant and brilliant partner, Witney, whose completely Pro and Creative Know-how was CLEARLY at an all time high, as she seemingly effortlessly pulled off - what was previously shaping up to be – a nearly-impossible Ballroom feat!

"… You were killing it!" voiced Panel Judge, Carrie Ann Inaba, once the Dance was over, "… What I loved was that everything had your own spin on it!  'Cause you're bigger [and] there's only one 'king of pop' … You brought your own style and flavor, and it had a rougher edge to it, and I loved it!  'Dangerous'!"

"It's not 'Thriller', Miller, it's 'Bad'!" agreed Head Judge, Len Goodman, "But I mean good 'Bad'! You didn't need that Wind-Machine, you've got a Fan here!  That was terrific!"

Von & Lindsay – Review of DWTS Season 22, Week 05

DWTS Season 22, Week 05

REVIEW: Von & Lindsay

Dancing a, “Country Jive” (to quote Lindsay in the pre-Dance Rehearsal Package) to “Hips” by Beans and Fatback, Super Bowl MVP, Von Miller, and his Switch Up partner, Lindsay Arnold, presented their Week 05 Routine.

Von & Lindsay
DWTS Season 22, Week 05
- Switch-up Week

… Sloppy to say the least!

I’m sorry, and while I’m likely one of the first ones to want to see Von continue his Disney Night Success (SUCH a beautiful Job, Von & Witney, and truly one of my favorite Viennese Waltzes EVER!!); suffice it to say, Midnight has evidently long pass and Von’s Dancing has once again seemingly collapsed back down into its original Country Bumpkin, er, PUMPKIN Status!

Now, the Choreography of this Routine, it should be said, was STELLAR, combining a wonderfully gratifying Balance of Terrific, Texas Fun and all the Crazed Content one could ask for (Great Job, Lindsay!); but, it still wasn’t enough to bring this Number beyond any sort of Half-way Decent Standard!

Von & Lindsay
DWTS Season 22, Week 05
- Switch-up Week

Heavy Footwork (I’m sorry, Tex, uh, Miller, but are we slopping Hogs through the mud here, or are we Jiving???), Lazy Lines, and an overall feeling of “Dragging” reigned Supreme in this not-so-Hep-to-the-Jive for Von, resulting in what I believe to be one his worst Dances to Date!

Still, this Performance wasn’t all bad … saving this Routine from the depths of Dismal Dancing Despair, Von’s Endearing and uniquely Very Good Showmanship ...

Von & Lindsay
DWTS Season 22, Week 05
- Switch-up Week

... AND general Affability did bring this Number up from the Status of “Total Ruins!!” to “That was a whole ‘lotta Fun!” (and, of course, that Over-the-Head-Leap was no less than INCREDIBLE!);

Von & Lindsay
DWTS Season 22, Week 05
- Switch-up Week

but in the end, it would only serve to make his Technical Execution for this Jive, “Bearable” at best.

You’re a very clever, little one,” Judge Carrie Ann Inaba gushed following the Performance, addressing Lindsay directly, “because, you went with his [Von’s] style!  … I thought that was very clever, and THAT’s what this [Competition] is about, there’s ‘Strategy’ involved; and I think that you worked to his Strengths! …”

Oookay, well first off, Carrie Ann, I resent the (in my opinion) CLEAR implication that Lindsay was somehow able to bring something out of Von during this Switch Up Week that Witney hasn’t yet been able to … That is 100%, steaming fresh (for all you Texans out there) bull crap; and, you know it!

… “worked to his strengths”?!  Von’s NEVER looked worst, with the exception of his Week 02 Cha-Cha; and, if anything, Lindsay’s “clever” Choreography made him look like some sort of Sweet but Lumbering, Country Hick, instead of an “Holding his own” Competitor!

In conclusion, I’d call Lindsay’s Choreography “Great”; but, not at all “Clever”.

“… It’s tough,” added Guest Judge, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, concerning the Dance, addressing Von directly, “it’s tough!  You look like you have so much to give … I just … I personally want a little bit more!  Thank God, I’m not judging the Finale, this is just mid-way through the Season, [so] you guys come back, get back with your [original] partners and kick it up a notch! …”

Thank you, Maksim!, some perspective, some honesty, some fair judging!

Von & Witney – Review of DWTS Season 22, Week 04

DWTS Season 22, Week 04

REVIEW: Von & Witney

Dancing a Romantic Waltz to “A Dream is a Wish” from Cinderella (2015 – COMPLETE with the actual Carriage, from the Film, present on the Dance Floor!), MVP, Von Miller, and his Professional partner, Witney Carson, submitted their Disney Night Routine!

Von & Witney
DWTS Season 22, Week 04
Disney Night

So this is love (Mmm-mm-mm-mmm!), so THIS is love!
So THIS is what makes Dance divine!!
So this is the Dancing-Miller that we’ve been dreaming of …
Ladies and Gentlemen (and Disney Princess Enthusiasts alike!) if you haven’t guessed, I positively ADORED this next Routine!!

Von & Witney
DWTS Season 22, Week 04
Disney Night

An Elegant Charm and Beautiful Brilliance sprang to life within Von’s Dancing on Disney Night’s Dance Floor as he deftly led his partner, Witney, around the Ballroom with an ever pleasing and seemingly effortless quality of Gentle Grace and Romantic Poise that amounted into what can only be called a Princely Performance!

Von & Witney
DWTS Season 22, Week 04
Disney Night

With such Lovely Lines, a Captivating Character Portrayal, and a Fantastically Firm Frame all coming together for Von during this no less than delightful Routine, it should come as little surprise that THIS Viennese Waltz proved his best dancing exhibit to date!

Von & Witney
DWTS Season 22, Week 04
Disney Night

And we simply MUST take a Paragraph here to discuss the ever-lovely “Princess Witney” whose supreme portrayal of Cinderella, brought about by enchanting Choreography and that Fairytale-worthy, purely EXQUISTE Dress left her reining as DWTS’ very own and truly the Fairest in the Land!  … With respect, of course, to Princess Snow White!
(Sorry, Snow, but for realz, Wit should get her very own Disney Animated Flick out of all this beauty, pomp, and daintiness!!)

Von & Witney
DWTS Season 22, Week 04
Disney Night

“What a staggering transformation since last week, I am totally enchanted! …”
exclaimed Panel Judge, Bruno Tonioli, following the Routine while Judge, Carrie Ann Inaba, voiced “… Von,  that is the ‘Champion’ that I have been looking for!  … You’re like a ‘Prince Champion’ out there! … All of it, so charming, it was wonderful!”

Von & Witney
DWTS Season 22, Week 04
Disney Night

Even Guest Judge, Zendaya Coleman, presumably swept up in the perfectly-Disney Atmosphere and Dazzling Vibrancy of the Dance seemed almost forced to call it right for once and comment, “… you were ‘Prince Charming’, and everybody was just, like, caught up in this fairytale; and, I think that you really painted that picture for us, so, that was beautiful!”

Von & Witney
DWTS Season 22, Week 04
Disney Night

But it was Head Judge, Len Goodman, who seemingly left every heart pounding within the Glitter Dome, as he teased, “Well, the thing is, I haven’t been grumpy tonight, and someone is gonna get it; and Von, it’s not you!  … Good Footwork, Musicality, Great stuff!”

Von & Witney
DWTS Season 22, Week 04
Disney Night

Well, hoorah, you guys, way to get it right this time (and who says DWTS Judges Dreams can’t ever come true?); but, to then follow up these accurate comments with a scoring of only all “8”’s (when this Dance CLEARLY deserved “9”s!!)???  … Good grief, people, way to go from being sweet and loveable to the detestable personification of the beloved classic’s Evil Step-Mother and Step-Sisters all in one sitting!
