DWTS Elimination: Kim & Sasha AND Von & Witney – Season 22, Week 07

Kim Fields and Sasha Farber
AND
Von Miller and Witney Carson
ELIMINATED
on Dancing With The Stars

Dancing With The Stars' Fans and Ballroom witnessed the dismal departure of not one but TWO Couples last Monday Evening as part of the show’s unnerving Double Elimination Night!

The Facts of Life Star, Kim Fields,

Kim & Sasha
DWTS Season 22, Week 07
- Icons Night

and Super Bowl Champion MVP, Von Miller,

Von & Witney
DWTS Season 22, Week 07
- Icons Night

each unwittingly closed down their respective, gratifying Seasons with one last Latin Hoorah, with Fields having performed a  (suffice it to say) Subpar Samba to a Jackson 5 hit – solidifying her as one of those unfortunate DWTS few to end their dancing Weeks on their worst Dance to date

DWTS Season 22, Week 07

– and with Miller (in stark opposition) having performed one of his best Dances to date, thrusting out a kingly Salsa to an Elvis Presley classic!

Von & Witney
DWTS Season 22, Week 07
- Icons Night

The Eliminated pair capped off
their last Competitive hours under the Glitter Dome's roof, each taking part in opposing Team Dance Freestyles in an all out, Guys vs. Gals, Ballroom showdown with Miller’s James Brown crew firmly defeating Fields' BeyoncĂ© ladies.

I must say that I had found myself a little more than shocked at the Night’s final result of sending Von home along with Kim (who, let’s face it, had to be the next Celeb to hit the California bricks, however unfortunate), seeing as how it was CLEARLY GMA Meteorologist Ginger Zee's turn to go next, having consistently displayed a much lazier form of dancing and Performance pizzazz overall throughout the Season!

Not to mention, I find it hard to believe that Super Bowl's reigning Champ – and, let’s not forget, MVP! - Von's Football Nation votes failed to effortlessly SQUASH (what would presumably be) Ginger’s  comparatively insignificant crowd of Weather-watchers.

Upon being formally Eliminated from the Ballroom, Kim expressed a fair amount of surprise concerning what she clearly deemed to be her untimely exit (which reaction inspired within myself an equal, if not, much more amused emotion), before graciously noting that she was “grateful for the opportunity” to have been part of the show, while Von commented that his time on the show had allowed him not only a pleasing life experience, but also the making of a new-found and endeared friend as well, remarking, “… It's been so much fun!  … Me and Witney, we have a special relationship …”

Kim & Sasha – Review of DWTS Season 22, Week 07

DWTS Season 22, Week 07

REVIEW: Kim & Sasha

Dancing a Sub-par Samba to “ABC” by the Jackson 5, Kim Fields and her Professional partner, Sasha Farber, presented their Week 07 Routine.

What happened to Kim?!

Kim & Sasha
DWTS Season 22, Week 07
- Icons Night

Typically one of Season 22’s more Charismatic Performers (proper Technical Execution notwithstanding), Kim showed up on Monday night's Dance Floor a disappointing, apathetic MESS, as with each and every Lazy Line, Halfhearted Foot Placement, and Sorry “Shake it, shake it,
Baby!” ( WHAT?  No “J5” fans out there??), Fields proved that this Samba was anything but “Easy as 1, 2, 3” (or “ABC”, for that matter!) for her!

Kim & Sasha
DWTS Season 22, Week 07
- Icons Night

Without a doubt, her worst Dance to date, AND - adding insult to what was a definite, Kim-induced injury - her highest score to date, earning a total of 27 Points out of 30 from the
DWTS’ Judging Panel, an event which still remains a complete (and dare I say?) UNJUST Puzzle to me!  What up, you guys?!!

Kim & Sasha – Review of DWTS Season 22, Week 06

DWTS Season 22, Week 06

REVIEW: Kim & Sasha

Performing a Jive to "You Can't Stop the Beat" from Hairspray, Kim Fields and her Professional dancing partner, Sasha Farber, presented their Week 06 Dance!

Kim & Sasha
DWTS Season 22, Week 06
- Famous Dances Night

Well, apparently you can't stop the beat, and you can't stop this Team, as the once more gratifying Pairing that is Kim & Sasha were back in the Ballroom with yet another deliciously FABULOUS Performance!

Kim & Sasha
DWTS Season 22, Week 06
- Famous Dances Night

A wonderfully Pleasing and Full of Rhythm Number (So nicely done, Sasha!), this colorfully arrayed Exhibition of Hairspray kicked off Season 22's rendition of Famous Dances Nights in ALL the right ways as Kim's Star-like Quality and never-failing Performance Pizzazz met this Week with some truly Great Frames and Dancing Lines to create what was certainly one of her BEST Dances to date!!

Kim & Sasha
DWTS Season 22, Week 06
- Famous Dances Night

As for this Jive's all-important Kicks and Flicks, however ... sad to say but truth be told, they were not all "Sharp" (Perhaps the wearing of some Heels might have helped?), some even going as far, at times, as to result in one or two (or three) moments of unflattering, unsightly, Non-Femininity!

… That said, and upon the whole, I absolutely adored this Routine, finding that what it may have (and did indeed) lack in Technical Execution, it MORE than made up for with a whole 'lotta Fun and Hairspray!!   (… Oh! The actual Product, not the Play, although that too!)

"… a terrific Opening to the show," voiced Head Judge, Len Goodman, concerning this Performance, "Well done!"

Kim & Keo – Review of DWTS Season 22, Week 05

DWTS Season 22, Week 05

REVIEW: Kim & Keo

Dancing an “Oh, but there was a height difference!”-Viennese Waltz, to “These Arms of Mine” by Otis Redding, it’s The Facts of Life Actress, Kim Fields, and her Week 05 Switch Up Pro, Keo Motsepe.

Kim & Keo
DWTS Season 22, Week 05
- Switch-up Week

Well, first off, I just want it noted that I thought Kim’s dancing of this sultry Motown Routine was no less than excellent!

Kim & Keo
DWTS Season 22, Week 05
- Switch-up Week

Beautiful Lines, Feminine Footwork, and a surprisingly gratifying Passionate Expression of Emotion and Movement all came together for Fields during this Number, resulting in what could very easily be described as being one of her (if not her absolute) BEST and certainly most “Delicious” (to quote Judge Carrie Ann Inaba) Dances to date!!

Kim & Keo
DWTS Season 22, Week 05
- Switch-up Week

I mention this first
because it’s more than due and I really don’t want to bring Kim (or her Fine Dancing) down, within the following!

<Ahem!> …

WHAT IS WRONG WITH KEO?!!!

“That’s a hard one,” began Guest Judge, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, with the Judges’ Critiques of this Dance,
“I mean, it’s uh, it’s a beautiful Performance! Uh, [a] very lovely Dance, um, great from beginning to the end, [but] I have to say though … it’s literally NOT a Viennese Waltz!  There’s like half a Step of Viennese Waltz, the rest is just Beautiful Movement.  If we [The Judges] are going to be fair, and we’re going to demand things from others, we have to demand them from everybody.  There was [only] half a Step of Viennese Waltz, there was no Frame … I can’t even criticize the Frame because there was none! … Like I said, it’s a little difficult!”

Wow!   That was really just, like, PERFECTLY observed and so aptly phrased there, Maks; and, I, where I might usually add a line or two of my own, I won’t, since it appears it would really be repetitive and redundant and repetitive and redundant.

(What?  No Fun lovers out there?)

“Thank God, you’re here Maks,” added Head Judge, Len Goodman, “because it’s normally me against the world!  … Why not ONE Step in Hold?!  Not ONE!  It’s the Viennese Waltz!  You talk about “Pictures” [referring to Judge Bruno Tonioli’s comment that the Dance was like “a series of beautiful Pictures”] - the Viennese Waltz is about Rotation, it’s about Movement, it’s about natural, Reverse Turns … Why not Hold?!”

“It’s a height difference between me and her [Kim]” retorted Keo, clearly (in my opinion) aggravated.

(Arguring with the Judges?  Really, Keo???)

“If I do a Hold, it looks very small …” he finished lamely.

C'mon, Keo, that’s ridiculous!!  … It’s wasn’t that you couldn't have done any better; it’s merely that you chose not to.  And, Hey! Kudos, Keo!  The dance was, in fact, beautiful!  But you had to have known that the judges were going to "ding" you for your lack of content, right?

“… I also wanna remind people” threw in Maks, following the rest of Keo’s inexcusable excusing, “of Maks & Meryl:  There’s a BIG height difference.”

Yeah, Keo, “Maks & Meryl”, as in, beloved Season 18 Mirror Ball Champions Maks & Meryl!!  … Of course, there wasn’t really THAT great of a Height Difference between Maks & Meryl (but, point taken, Maks!)

… Oh, Oooo!  I have a better example!!  Let’s try, oh, I dunno, VON & WITNEY from last Week?!!!

Von & Witney
DWTS Season 22, Week 04
Disney Night

Hellooo, their beautiful Disney Night VIENNESE WALTZ ... is this ringing a bell, Keo???

You know, that Viennese Waltz that they had (apparently!) so MIRACULOUSLY pulled off, despite the fact that IF they had been asked to dance to a song from fellow
Disney Flick, Rapunzel, Von could have easily portrayed The Tower to Wit’s Rapunzel?!!

Von & Witney

<Exasperated Sigh> I really like you as a Pro, Keo, so next time curb your own insanity, would you please??

Kim & Sasha – Review of DWTS Season 22, Week 04

DWTS Season 22, Week 04

REVIEW: Kim & Sasha

Dancing the Quickstep to “I Wanna Be Like You” from The Jungle Book, Kim Fields and her Professional partner, Sasha Farber, submitted their Disney Night Performance!

Kim & Sasha
DWTS Season 22, Week 04
Disney Night

Portraying the non-existent role of Jungle Book “Tour Guides” (Seriously, I might almost say that “I wanna be like you”; but, I don’t even know who “You-hoo-oo” are!), Kim & Sasha absolutely killed this Routine!!

Kim & Sasha
DWTS Season 22, Week 04
Disney Night

Full of fun and Jungle Rhythm, this dance proved Kim’s absolute BEST so far, as it supremely exhibited her natural panache for Performing Pizzazz, along with an equally present showcasing of her Great Frame, Wonderful Lines, and Terrific Musicality!

Kim & Sasha
DWTS Season 22, Week 04
Disney Night

Likewise her Footwork, which, yes, granted, left a little something to be desired overall - displaying (what appeared to be) some heaviness and even a bit of “Lag” at different times during the Routine - showed a certain level of improvement throughout, as her quick-stepping Kicks and Antics brought about some truly exhilarating feats, all of which had been so neatly wrapped in the Perfect, Playful Packaging that is the increasing Brilliance of her partner, Sasha’s, Choreography!

“… I’m gonna call that ‘Zippity-Doo-Dah’!”  opened up Head Judge, Len Goodman, with the Judges' critiques, “Plenty of ‘Zip’ in the Performance, a bit of Doo-Dah on the Footwork; but, the bottom line:  It’s your best Dance so far!”

“… the Energy Level was excellent,” added Judge, Bruno Tonioli, exuberantly, allowing Judge Carrie Ann Inaba to conclude with, “... You two, your Partnership is just fantastic, you bring magic to every Dance you do because of the way you work together, the chemistry is outstanding, you make it look so easy!”
