DWTS
Season 20 “Disney Night”?
Val & Danica McKellar - Beauty & the Beast Quick Step |
So, I
hear tell “Disney Night” is making a comeback for DWTS’ 10TH
anniversary season!! And how appropriate, seeing as how Disney owns the ABC Channel…didn’t know that? Oh, Yes! Disney has their white-gloved-fingers in A LOT of entertainment pies!
Yaaay! I
love, love, love all things Disney (Who doesn’t?)!!
Well, most things Disney… I was none too happy with one of their recent musical
attempts, “Into the Woods”…Yuck! ...but I digress.
I did, however, absolutely LOVE what DWTS
did with Disney themes in season 18:
Amy and Derek (Amy Purdy and Derek
Hough)’s Cinderella Waltz? Sooo
graceful, elegant and sweet!
And who wouldn’t
love Meryl and Maks (Meryl Davis and Maksim Chmerkovskiy)’s Jungle Book
Samba, or
Charlie and Sharna (Charlie White and Sharna Burgess)’s fantastic
Mary Poppins Jazz routine?
I do know
a few people (myself included) who were a little more than put out when Cody and
Witney (Cody Simpson and Witney Carson) were given the boot following their
adorable Lion King Samba (What were y’all thinking?!), but again, I digress!
And, of coarse, the “Wow! That was surprisingly awesome!” title would have to of gone to James and Peta (James
Maslow and Peta Murgatroyd)’s contemporary dance to “Let it go” from Disney’s
“Frozen”!
Bottom
Line: I’m super excited!!
Above video is James Maslow and
Peta Murgatroyd’s incredible contemporary to “Let it Go”, From the Disney
movie, “Frozen” for DWTS’ season 18, week 5: Disney Night!
This next video (above) is Charlie
White and Sharna Burgess’ contribution for DWTS season 18, Finale…their
unforgettable Jazz to “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” from Disney’s Mary
Poppins! Of coarse, I would of loved to included a link of their original version of this
dance from week 5: Disney Night but, alas! I could not find what would even be
considered a half-way decent video…oh well! There is, however, a fun, little, extra trivia nugget to be gathered from
this particular (finale) version of Charlie and Sharna’s Jazz routine: Check
out the part near the end of the dance where Charlie trades his cane for
Sharna’s parasol, and the parasol becomes disconnected from its handle, sending
the prop flying from Charlie’s grasp and across the dance floor! It’s very possible that Charlie did
this on purpose, as a comedic reference to the first time he and Sharna danced
this Jazz, when poor Charlie accidentally dropped the parasol, thereby costing
them a perfect score of 30 points from the judges! I did not (DO not) agree
with the judges BTW…anyone can accidentally drop a prop! It’s how the
competitor recovers that counts… and Gold-medal winning, Olympic figure-skater
Charlie White never missed a beat!
