A Brief Look at Our DWTS, Season 22 Cast! – Nyle DiMarco

Season 22’s Cast!!



America’s Next Top Model Winner and Actor, Nyle DiMarco, is coming to Dancing With The Stars’ as part of its all-new, Spring Cast for Season 22!

The second male to have ever won on A.N.T.M. out of all of the show’s previous 22 Seasons, DiMarco also holds the unique distinction of being the Program’s only Deaf Contestant to have ever competed on the show.

In addition, to his impressive Modeling credits, DiMarco is also noted for his career in Acting, perhaps most notably for when he played the recurring role of Garrett Banducci in ABC Family’s hit Television series, Switched At Birth (2011-Present). 
    
A Queens, N.Y.C. native, Nyle attended Gallaudet University, where he received a Degree in Mathematics, and hails from an entirely Deaf Family, according to Wikipedia, including DiMarco’s Parents, Grandparents, Fraternal Twin Brother, Nico, and his Older Brother, Neal, all of whom were born Deaf.

Partnered with DWTS Pro and former Mirror Ball Champion, Peta Murgatroyd, Nyle’s part in Season 22’s upcoming Competition will mark the 2nd time that a Deaf Celebrity has ever competed within the Glitter Dome, the 1st time being when well-known Film and Television Actress, Marlee Matlin, took part in Season 06, along with her then Pro partner, Fabian Sanchez, the Couple having landed in a solid 7th Place overall.

“… Number one, I’m always up for a challenge,” explained Nyle in regards to his decision to join up with this Season’s Celebrity Cast of DWTS, “and second, I wanna prove to the world that Deaf people can Dance, and win!”

“I have no previous Dance Experience,” the 26-year-old went on to share, before additionally noting that the days ahead would certainly hold their fair share of obstacles …

“I never danced at all,” the Model grinned, “not even once in my life!”

And despite the obvious difficulties soon to be faced in Dance by DiMarco and his partner Murgatroyd, Nyle has further divulged that it’s not all about “The Win” for him.

  “… Automatically, there’s a burden for me to represent my [Deaf] community well,” pointed out Nyle, “and I’ve become basically their Spokesperson and, of course, I wanna make sure that I bring them into the spotlight and show that there’s such a beautiful culture there.  … I want the world to know about it, and raise awareness and understand us better.”

“I think that he’s totally gonna be able to do this on the show,” added Nyle’s new Dance Instructor, Peta (who has reportedly taken up learning ASL – American Sign Language – for her new partner), “… I think that this is such an amazing partnership that, together … we’re gonna prove to everybody that this ‘Barrier’ is not gonna hold us back one bit!”
